Martin Luther

While in exile at Wartburg, Luther translated the New Testament into his “Common German,” in less than three months. It was published in September 1522 at Wittenberg, becoming known as the Septembertestament. Luther continued translating the Bible and in 1534, his entire German Bible was published. He would keep revising it until his death.

Luther would return to Wittenberg to take his place behind the pulpit. The Reformation began to spread outside of Luther’s world.

In 1525, Luther marries twenty-six year old Katarina Von Bora. They will have six children and adopt four more.
